Green Line Extension meetings

There are two public meetings to discuss the Green Line Extension coming up next month, on March 9th (at Brooks Elementary in Medford) and on March 11th (at Somerville High School). Oh, and if we're well behaved, "perhaps light refreshments could be offered".

I needed to put money on the laundry card, but was surprised to see the ATM was no longer there. Annoyed, I was prepared to leave my laundry bags there while I got some cash at the ATM down the road, but the manager offered to spot me the wash while I went to get money, as not to waste time. I was pleased and readily agreed.

Davis Square Task Force agenda and meeting room full

By Ben Johnson The Davis Square Task Force held a meeting this past Monday night, February 23rd. Somerville Aldermen, small business owners, and interested residents all gathered in the Tufts Administration Building (TAB) at 7pm to discuss ongoing and future business developments and community updates in the Davis Square area. The crowd in attendance Monday evening was sizeable with nearly 30 people squeezed into the small classroom on the first floor of the TAB. The meeting's agenda included presentations about constructions and business developments followed by crime updates and then a discussion of The Davis Square Task Force's future. The first project brought to the floor was a presentation on the plans for constructing new townhouses at the Carli Fence Site on Willow and Newberne Street. Here's a viewpoint you don't see every day (at least, you don't if you read in the same affordable housing circles I do). A pro-gentrification argument from Worcester, singing the praises of our Michael Capuano.

Each Congressmen has been heavily involved in the gentrification of Southie and Somerville, two communities today that are attracting young professionals, young families, holding onto their own native sons and daughters as well as being huge attractions to the baby boomahs who are now downsizing and moving from the burbs back to these urban enclaves and from all over the country. BOTH cities are classic examples of modern day urban living environments.... Urban Worcester needs some of this gentrification and it's leaders most particular Congressman McGovern in my opinion need some good advice on how to lead WooTown in this direction!
