During the presidential election, there was much talk about how voters wanted a president that they could have a beer with. I couldn't imagine hoisting a cold one with Barack, until I found out that I lived less than a quarter of a mile away from him from 1989 to 1991. We were both living in Winter Hill section of Somerville. Barack likes apartments; I like that in a guy.

Read Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone's 2009 Mid-Term Address in the Somerville News. The steady progress throughout Somerville definitely makes me feel optimistic. Note some important shout-outs to the Winter Hill and East Somerville community, including the support of the East Somerville Community School after the 2007 fire, infrastructure and transportation development in East Somerville and Magoun Square as part of the Obama recovery plan, as well as preparation for the IKEA move to Assembly Square.

I have to admit though, I do miss Good Time.

Somerville —

Alderman-at-large Dennis Sullivan wants to make sure Somerville's link to President-Elect Barack Obama is preserved.

Sullivan has submitted a resolution to the Board of Aldermen, meeting tonight at City Hall, that the city of Somerville designate Obama's former Somerville residence as a landmark.

Obama, while attending Harvard University, lived in the basement apartment at 365 Broadway in Somerville from 1988 to 1991

Winter Hill is in the White House

Boy,there were a lot of people voting on Tuesday.

Winter Hill is in the White House

Winter Hill, after decades of infamy as a capital of gangsterism, took the White House Tuesday.

Barack Obama, who lived in a basement apartment at 365 Broadway from 1987 to 1990, became the first black president as Democrats reversed decades of Republican power in a nationwide political shift.

However thin it may be, Obama - who was raised in states across the country and whose worldview was shaped in New York City and Chicago - still brings a piece of Winter Hill with him into history.

Obama, Former Wintervillain

It looks like Hillary Clinton is going to take the popular vote in the Massachusetts Democratic primary, though she and Barack Obama will be splitting the 93 proportional delegates. It will be interesting to see how Barack Obama does in Somerville, where he apparently lived while attending Harvard. Town by town results can be found here - Somerville has as of now 0% reporting.
