Please help: Lost Winter Hill Shih Tzu

Animal Control Officer April Terrio has sent out an alert about a missing Shih Tzu in Somerville.
Precious is a 5-year-old female who lives in Winter Hill. She was last seen at 7 p.m. on front porch of 10 Sycamore Terrace. She is mostly white, with small amount of brown and wears a silver choke chain. She is a familiar fixture in her neighborhood and her owner is very distraught.


If you see her please contact April at 617-625-6600 ext 2190.

Somerville —

A large boa constrictor was rescued bySomerville Police at Assembly square today.

Animal Control Officer April Terrio said the snake had a bruise on its head but looked healthy and active this morning. It is in the care of a snake expert until someone claims it. Age, weight and sex have not been determined yet.

At about 9:30 a.m. this morning, Terrio got a call about a snake found at Central Steel on Foley Street in Assembly Square.

Aye carumba: Somerville to implement new parking meter hours, costs starting Monday

Somerville —

Like it or not, folks will soon have to chip in four quarters for an hour’s worth of parking at meters across Somerville. Meters will also run an extra two hours until 8 p.m.

Business owners are not happy and believe these increases will hurt their businesses.

"The plan is to create new parking meter zones in Davis and Magoun squares’ municipal parking lots in the spaces reserved for business permit parking, and have the meters run 5-8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday.

Loading zones in Davis Square will also be metered Monday to Friday, 5-10 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

In addition, the city plans to implement citywide residential parking including the currently 162 permit-free streets."
