Historic Winter Hill: Somerville, Massachusetts 1890

A Somerville excerpt from  A Gazetteer of the State of Massachusetts by Rev. Elias Nason, M.A.:

'Winter Hill, on which may be traced the remains of a line of breastworks thrown up by the Continental army, but now crowned with elegant mansions'

'The villages, or more densely occupied localities, are known as Milk Row, Prospect Street, East, North and West Somerville, Willow Bridge and Winter Hill. It has a good water-supply from Mystic Lake, is well paved, lighted, and has an efficient fire department.'

Ward 4 Alderman Tony Lafuente works to clean up our neighborhood

The Somerville News highlights the recent efforts by Ward 4 Alderman Tony Lafuente to reduce the number of neglected properties in the area. This effort follows his notice back in July to inform residents about the contribution of weeds and overgrowth to the rodent problem in certain parts of the city.
