A gathering at Foss Park during National Night Out.

Somerville’s Foss Park was founded on June 18, 1876. Originally named Broadway Park, it was renamed in 1921 after Saxton Conant Foss, son of Somerville’s poet laureate, Sam Walter Foss. Saxton Foss had been killed during World War I in France, at the age of thirty.

Beautiful Yellow Canary Found

We found a beautiful yellow canary in the Arthur D. Healey School area. If you have any idea who this belongs to, or know anyone in the area with a similar bird, please email.
Alternatively, if we don't find the home and you are interested in taking her in, let me know. I'm enjoying her company, but there are enough critters peeping around here.

National Night Out in Foss Park, East Somerville

Somerville Cares About Prevention (SCAP) and the City of Somerville held their 6th Annual National Night Out last night in Foss Park. The weather was beautiful for some performances, food, and demonstrations by the state police. Nice to see the park getting this kind of use. Here's my view of the K9 demo:
